  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

2

Add the frozen banana chunks to a high-powered blender with the cocoa powder, protein powder, Greek yogurt, peanut butter and vanilla extract.

Step 2 — High-Protein Chocolate Banana Nice Cream
3

Blend on low, stopping to scrape down the sides with a spatula, until thick, glossy and smooth like soft-serve. Add a splash of milk only if the blades stall.

Step 3 — High-Protein Chocolate Banana Nice Cream
4

Scoop the nice cream into two chilled bowls straight away for a soft-serve texture.

5

Top with the sliced banana, dark chocolate chips and a drizzle of peanut butter.

6

Serve immediately, or freeze for 30 minutes first if you prefer a firmer scoop.

This is the dessert I make when I want ice cream without the sugar crash. Frozen bananas whipped with cocoa, chocolate protein powder and thick Greek yogurt turn into something so close to soft-serve that nobody guesses it's mostly fruit — and with over 20 grams of protein per bowl, it actually keeps you full. One of my favourite high-protein foods for a post-workout treat. Look up any ingredient at nutricounter.net/tools/nutrition before you shop.
